Dress Up

This week Jennifer gave the girls some old clothes that belonged to her mother. They use them to play dress-up. Each of the girls dressed themselves. Don't they look great!

Birthday Party

I had a party last week to celebrate my 50th birthday. I invited all the ladies from my Tuesday Bible Study group. This is Jen and me posing for the camera.(I'm the short one)
I made all the decorations myself. I used scrapbook paper to make hats and place cards. The cards had quotes about friendship. I also made treat bags with lemon cookies inside.
I served chicken salad as the main dish with plenty of fruit on the side.
There were 15 women at the party. I cannot say how much it meant to me that these ladies came to celebrate with me. My girlfriend Barb even planned her trip here from Arizona to be at the party. Actually the party was her idea.

The women were very generous to me. Just being there was really enough.

This was by far the best birthday. Turning 50 doesn't matter, it's just a number. Having friends and family to celebrate with is what's important.

Vintage Friday

I celebrated my birthday this week with a group of my best girlfriends. This vintage package was a gift from Jen. The other ladies kept looking at it and everyone was anxious to see what was in crate. It was filled with vintage treasures, tableclothes, hot pads, hankies, even fingerless gloves. ( I'll take more pictures as I go through everything again.) Those that know me best know I love gifts like this. I can't wait to look through the items and spend time thinking about the women who owned them before they came to my house. I love to think about the homemaker taking time to make these things to brighten up her home. I am grateful to each one of them for the joy they are giving to me by sharing their handmade things with me.

Wednesday's Wonderful Women

During my life I have been blessed with many good friends, and a few wonderful friends. Jen is one of the wonderful friends. We have known one another for a long time, having met through church. She was my daughter's leader at church for many years. ( We have daughters the same age). We just started talking and have never stopped. We are very different from one another and at the same time we have so much in common. The most important thing is that we are Sister's in Christ. Jen has had more impact on my spiritual walk than any one else. Almost daily she feeds me insights into God's word and helps me to use these insights in my everyday living. She is one of the most compassionate people I know, with a very gentle heart. Jen is also very giving. She comes up with projects for us to do to help others all the time. I am very inspired by her and love to do these projects with her. Currently we are making pajama bottoms to send to needy children along the Amazon. She is also a lot of fun as you can tell by the picture. This is her yesterday at my 50th birthday party. She has totally dressed for the occasion. Jen gives the best gifts. We both love vintage linens and household things, and she is very good about sharing when she finds treasures. We both love M&M's and she shares these also. I count Jen as one of my blessings and I am so grateful God has put her in life.

Getting Ready

I have a busy day ahead of me today. Tomorrow I'm having my Bible Study ladies over for a picnic lunch to help celebrate my birthday. (It's really just an excuse to get everyone together.) I have a lot of work to do to finish getting ready. Most of the food will need to be prepared today and the house needs to be cleaned. We set up a canopy in the backyard to cover the picnic tables and I made tissue flowers over the weekend. However, it's pouring outside! I don't really have the space to move it inside if the rain continues through tomorrow (that's the forecast anyway). Oh well, I will just keep getting ready. I am very excited about tomorrow and won't let anything put me in a bad mood. I just want to celebrate and be happy with all that God has blessed me with. Tomorrow it's my friends and Wednesday, my actual birthday, I will celebrate with my family.
